Star Party - New Zealand

Just come back from a great Star Party at Cissy Bay with the Nelson AS. We all had a great time with clear skies and a memorable BBQ - and beer and wine of course !

Full details and pics to follow. A couple attached just to whet your appetite.

First pic is of the stunning location, second one of the guys with their scopes from a 3 ins reflector through to a 16 ins 'push to' Dob with encoders and software running on a PDA - I'm the one in the middle holding the ZS66.

Dave - 'stunning' is a word that I tend to over use in looking at NZ scenery, but it just is!

Hope your trip is a good one.

I'll post a more detailed reply and photos a.s.a.p. The one thing that stood out for me was the incredible view I had through the 16 ins Dob with Nagler EP of the dark outline of the horse in the Horse Head Nebula. More of this Dob later.....

Dave - I couldn't believe what I could see, even with the little ZS66. It performed like a 5 ins achro in comparison with my UK skies!
