Cassiopeia , beware dew !

Clear sky and as the temperature fell, a huge deposit of dew dripping off scope, mount and eyepieces. 

Started off with a tester , 36 Andromedae (1.1")which brightly popped open at x200. Very clear and stable. 

Fainter targets hardly showed , the Draco galaxies ( NGC 2681, NGC 3077 and NGC 2842)and NGC 1023 ( +9.5, our nearest lenticular)in Perseus being testers. 

I spent most of the time with Cassiopeia. A recent scrap of paper gave some old colour binaries here. These were very much admired , especially showing up in packed star fields. Shedar (α) is particularly attractive. 

Σ 3062 gave a wide 1.6". The triple Σ 3037 giving a fine view. Σ 45 showing a delicate companion. 

A great tour of the open clusters and a visit to the binary "running man " in Perseus, NGC 1545 and the dustier NGC 1528. Pleiades appeared early with Aldebaran and the top of Orion appeared as I packed the soaked kit away. This appeared here,

Great report Nick!  It was a lovely night for doubles!  Saw a good few here after 2am. Dew is certainly creeping back into the equation

Glad you got to see stuff I went out first couple targets in FOV went to get some doubles in Draco could not find them with dew and the mount, went to Albireo it was there went to M13 and nothing ok back to Alibireo nothing not sure if clutches are slipping. packed up came in, I was looking forward to Draco as well see how good the Tal was on the doubles.

Never mind the TAL.  The dew was chronic ! Light was beginning to chuck arpind with the moisture up there .

I fear putting stuff away and it took a long time wiping stuff down before entry into the shed of spiders,
