Supernova 2017gmr, anyone?

This is reported at mag 14.2 in NGC988. The latter is mag 11, but a bright foreground star makes it hard to spot. Mag 14.2 is going to be hard in my scope.

Might be worth a shot with my 12" dob when Cetus has risen a fair bit above the horizon. Thanks for the heads up Michael

Thanks for the heads up. Is the supernova in the Fireworks galaxy still visible? I accidentally landed on it with my 135mm lens last night.

Thanks, I probably have it then. It was only a 2 minute shot, but taken at f2.

Thanks - this is Type II so it should hang around for a while. Will have to give it a go with the 12" when I get back to Cambridge in a couple of weeks.

It might even brighten. I could try the 16" RC of our university's observatory, although that does sit in an area of quite bad LP
