I cant snap shot the moon????

Recommended Posts

Hi

So ive just brought a nexstar 6SE with a focal reducer, and i have a mobile phone clamp that fits over the eyepiece.

LG G5

20mm eyepiece

When i take a picture of the moon, its a tiny dot at the middle of the shot in a circle of in the middle. I tried it with no eyepice, but then got a wierd image that had a black circle in the middle which is the secondary mirror at the front????

When i do some digtal zoom the image goes horrible and i cant get it center.

There is obviously a principle i am not understanding.

At this point i put the phone away and went back to visual.

I am planning to pick up a used starter canon/nikon this coming any recommendations? £150 budget .Will i get the same thing happen?

Thank you

Looks like its WAY WAY out of focus... and also it's over exposed... make sure you have the moon in focus with your eye before you attach the phone to it. whe it is, the view in your phone screen will be focused also, and the phone will expose the moon for you.

good luck
