Quick Veil Nebula

After several months without a mount and no astronomical darkness to speak of I managed to get just over an hour on the Veil Nebula the other night.

More of a test to make sure all the kit was still working okay.

Only managed 5 frames of 900 sec subs but couldn’t resist running it through PixInsight. I know I need to be aiming for 20-30 min subs, but little steps.

Hoping to add more data soon. My feeling is I have used too much noise reduction but if you don’t get too close it looks acceptable! Probably only having 5 frames to stack doesn’t help either.

Camera: Moravian G2-8300 – Mono
Filter: Chroma Ha 3nm
5x900s exposures at -25c
Darks, Flats & BIAS

Nice wispy detail, a few more subs will help with the snr and we all need a few more however many we take.
