Scorpius Rising Higher in Northern Latitudes

Hello everyone,

I recently received an observation report that the constellation Scorpius is rising higher in the northern latitudes. The assessment might be suspect were it not observed and reported by two seasoned and senior astronomers with excellent observational skills. Has anyone noticed such an anomaly now occurring ?  If so, please confirm in a reply to this post,  Thank you.

Thank you for your dignified response. The Observers are members of my Astronomy club with many years of observational experience and not prone to make wild speculations.

Something like this needs very precise measurements. An impression that Scorpius is higher up than in their youth can be very misleading. Even the best memory can play tricks, and skylines and light pollution change over the years.  As a more seasoned observer, you might have become more adept at observing objects at low altitude, giving you the impression that it is becoming easier to see targets in Scorpius, and concluding it must have risen. One simple reason to doubt that conclusion is that goto systems would probably be thrown by such a change. The extremely accurate data from the GAIA satellite would certainly show such a shift. None has been detected.
