TAK 225 GETS SOME TLC!!

Recommended Posts

I've just got home after a 420 mile trip to Telescopehouse. I contacted steve, the resident sct expert to have the Tak's corrector plate cleaned inside, as there was a little light haze and a couple of mildew spots which were there when i received the scope.

anyway, steve did a very fine job,i understand the solution was an isopropyl alcohol mix,and after replacing the corrector, proceeded to recollimate using the double pass autocollimator and the in house optical bench.

he collimated finally at an astounding x1800!!!

artificial star image at focus showed a lovely airy disc and diffraction ring.

the master flat used is i recall 16 inch dia and worth thousands!

whilst working on the scope, which received alot of interest due to its rarity and quality, steve remarked on the superb corrector cell which does not need to use any spacers at all, it self centres the corrector perfectly and even has an o-ring seal behind the corrector retaining plate.

he also noted the very high contrast of this rather special sct.

i am very pleased to have the scope now pristine and here are some pics i took while he worked.

telescope house are now Tak main dealers for UK.

regards

mike
