Glad it has been of some help.

Daystar suggest F4-F8 so the ES is at the suggested limit and at 1m FL I think you will need some VERY good seeing to get good results.

The ES AR127 looks like a good choice at f6.5 although it's a bit more expensive than the other two (around £150 more than Evostar+ focuser).

The Quark manual says best performance at F/27-F/32 with the integrated 4.3x telecentric barlow.

Evostar f8.33 (f35.8)

ST120 f5 (f21.5)

AR127 f6.5 (f27.93)

My ED80 works very well at f7.5 (f32.25)

I think you're right that the Evostar would be too much FL for the seeing most of the time, so my favourite is the ES AR127.

For me it's now down to whether I am going to go for a scope purely for Solar or an ED scope for Solar/Planetary/DSS but that's for another thread.

Thanks for all the help people.

Rob.

Web site says scopes of F4 to F8 (i.e. 17.2 to 34.4 total with Quark) so there is a bit of a mis match between the info.

Other thing to think about is that we are heading towards a solar minimum so do you want a scope that is more specialised for solar and less so for other targets when it may get less use on solar during the next few years of minimum activity.
