March 24, 2017: 39-frame animation of Jupiter

Recommended Posts

AS!2 has just finished stacking the load of data I gathered last night. Here is the resulting animation

Seeing was a bit variable, but the result is pretty decent. I might reprocess some frame to improve smoothness a bit further. Oddly, the animation looks a bit paler here on SGL then viewed separately.

Hi Michael - nice job! 39 exposures - would you mind sharing the details? I'd love to have a go!

I used the C8 with Meade Series 5000 2x TeleXtender (similar to TV PowerMate) and ASI224MC camera. I took 4000 frames at about 70 fps, and gain 354 in FireCapture (about 13.5ms exposure). I took one video every two minutes. I stacked 2000 out of each 4000 frames in AS!2, with 1.5x drizzle and RGB alignment. I then sharpened each image in Registax 6, and used PIPP to create the animation, in which I scale down the images as well.
