Adding Ha to RGB in Pixinsight

Recommended Posts

I'm getting to grips with PI, but am having variable results with adding Ha to RGB.

NBRGB is giving some very dark and muddy results, HaRVB looks more promising, but I'm not sure I'm using it properly, can't seem to find much about its use on the web.

What method do others use, and what settings?

:icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin: Ohhhhhh, alright Olly, Mea culpa, above all else, this is me trying to prove to myself that I can learn a new piece of software, whatever it takes!

I agree, in Photoshop, in theory, I know how it's done, but I think I'm trying to see if all the hype regarding PI is true. There are a lot of people re-living the mac/pc debate, or the FCP/Avid debate (that's a bit more specialised I know), I see this as a schism between supporters of different softwares, I'm trying to prove to myself that I'm impartial, and guess what, so far I'm doing the pre-processesing and basic building of the image in PI, but the fine tweeking and finishing is done in Photoshop, because after all, it's designed as picture editor, and you can see what you are doing in real time in photoshop, PI can't do that.

Did I mention layers, by the way...

In PixelMath, if you have a separate red (named RefImage below) and Ha image (named TarImage), you can use the following expression to achieve a lighten mode blend (which also allows for an opacity mix from 0 to 1 back into the original red). There is no real time blend, so if you don't like the results you need to adjust your Ha image and recombine.
