Hi, if you read my welcome in the newbie section you'll know I've only had my scope for a week and in that time managed two views of the moon for about 2 min's each time due to cloud!!

HOWEVER!!, just opened the back door for the cat and realised the cloud had temporarily dispersed! So got the scope out and found Jupiter!! I can't believe it. Just made out two rings of cloud and two VERY faint moons.

It has made the last week of waiting worthwhile!!!!!!

:hello1:

Yes, I love Jupiter. It's as good as Saturn in it's own way, isn't it? I love the clarity you can get on the planet on a good night. Wait till you see the bands, or a transit!!

Great stuff Tarqs.

The beauty of this hobby is that each time you go out on a clear night you can see something new every time. Ive been in this hobby for years and I still come racing indoors to tell the long suffering wife that Ive seen so & so for the first time ever.

The other week I saw Triton for the 1st time. OK it was an insignificant faint dot but I was over the moon about it, scuse the pun :hello2:

Enjoy the hobby, Im sure you will

Phil
