Venus 11/1/ 17

I bought a few eyepieces from my friend paulastro today and thought I'd try them out on Venus. Generally I tend to use a binoviewer for lunar and planetary observing, but tonight I used the TMB Planetaries. For Venus I used the 4mm! The subtle detail was not so easy to see using Cyclops viewing and floaters were much more obvious than while using both eyes.

Have you tried deep red and violet filters?

I'm a certifiable Filter-Nut! I have over 40 of these addictive pieces of glass. That said - I have & do (sometimes) use the No.47 Violet-Filter for Venus. This has been a good coupling known for many years no. But the Deep-Red Filter is a new one on me. Can you give me the No. (#) of this filter? I would like to duplicate your results as closely as possible, please?

Sounds like some fun!

Thanks -

Dave
