Good result for surrey streetlights

hi

so participated in a survey around proposal to turn off street lights at night around surrey, just had response back today, turns out " Over 75% of respondents were in favour of at least some street lights being switched off"

Whilst for now its 12am-5am from planned to be effective from Dec 16 - Feb 17 depending on area, still a good step forward - not saying ill necessarily be up on many occasions but it does add incentive for occasional late session, also potential for future increase in switch off.

Results here:

Interesting reading, in considered responses it does discuss options like turn off every other light or further dimming - unfortunately reducing below 50% output in cold weather causes flickering hence seems off is only other viable option.

Other point is around comments from respondents -  "comments covering the positive impact on the environment, reducing costs or improving the night sky" - so seems astro can be taken into account which is good!

either way positive step forward - just hope for earlier off times :)

good effort to those who contributed - seems a good result from a 5 minute survey!
