Nice images. I think that focus was ok, but you have trailing stars. Were these taken with a fixed tripod? To get more colour you would ideally need more exposure and a tracking mount.

When you get star trails, the light from a star is smeared out over the trail, instead of being concentrated in one place. This makes images dimmer.

What equipment did you use?

It was a fixed tripod with a Nikon d3300. I'm still thinking about purchasing a dovetail camera mount to attach it onto my alt-az goto mount.

Very nice pictures!

Interesting link that shows you where in the sky you can get the longest exposure: http://autostarsuite.net/forums/storage/19/4981/field rotation v3.pdf

Its very technical, but if you read it a few times, you'll find out where in the sky you can go how long (in theory).
I received this link once when i posted in this forum about max achievable exposure times with alt/az.

Kind regards, Graem
