A slice of luck

I've been checking my setup ready to start some observing again. I 'tidied up' some cabling by using some cable ties, but whilst slicing off the redundant ends of the final cable tie I managed to completely slice through my Dec cable! Aaargh! I had visions of a permanently crippled CG5 (did anyone even make replacement cables?) when to my amazement I found a spare cable in a box of bits. Phew. Two lessons learned, be very very careful with sharp objects near the scope and don't ever throw any 'bits' away - they may come in handy!

Good advice. I have a rather large holdal somewhere that's full of cables, mostly audio and power cables from years gone by.

Funnily enough, although I've been 'collecting' these cables probably for 20 years, I know exactly what's in there should I need it!
