'Installing device driver software' AARGH

Hi folks.

I'm trying to sort out a new laptop to control my cameras, mount, etc. 

WHY is it that every time I connect a device (for example, my SXVF camera) the laptop goes through its 'installing device driver software, searching Windows update.....' routine? EVERY time, and it takes ages. Surely once it's installed the drivers, it shouldn't need to install them every time?

Make sure that you use the same USB each time for the camera otherwise it will do this.
