DSLR troubles!

When I tried taking video of the planets through my DSLR (I know the limitations of a DSLR) the planet was to bright so any detail was blown out. What am I supposed to do to get a video without the planet being too bright? There is no exposure because its not a picture.

Can't you control the shutter speed when taking video on the DSLR ??

like you do when using a webcam or suchlike...

Ill try it out hold on. The night I tried it wasn't working. :/

Or maybe there is an equivalent gain setting....

or just lower the ISO right down as that controls how much light is let into the camera

I am sure there is an imager out there that will chip in with the answer for you....

I tried ISO and exposure time and it's not working. I tried on many different modes (manual, automatic, etc.) and that didn't work.

Well, I seem to have fixed it. I literally have no clue what I just did but now the ISO is affecting video brightness.

If you download Backyard eos you can adjust settings on that.

Or APT Astrophotography tool, both superb software packages, I rate APT very highly as the back up support form Ivo the author is secomd to none....can't comment on Backyard EOS as never used it.
