I came across a link to this site the other day: www.practicalastronomy.com. It's a freely downloadable pdf magazine. The website is copyright 2016, the latest blog is dated February 2015 and the 'latest issue' of the magazine itself is dated January - March 2012.

Is this defunct?

It appears to be a nice idea for a free astronomy magazine that never reached escape velocity. Looks defunct to me. RIP.
