mikeyggg
Hmmmmm.....Just went to David Hinds and bought an ex-display Celestron firstscope 90mm EQ for £49, with the intention of giving it to my 8 year old nephew as a birthday present. (I'm figuring on his dad helping with the mount of course). But now that I've bought it, I'm highly tempted to keep it for myself!Decisions decision.... Albireo380
Not a difficult decision at all. Get him a pair of Meade/Bresser 10x50 binoculars and let him look through YOUR new telsecope sometimes. He was probably sick all over you as a baby, so now it is payback time. Seriously though ... it is a difficult decision ... but if you have any doubt that he will really value and use the scope - keep it and get him something else.Tom
mikeyggg
Yes, its a tough one alright.I mean, i suppose I'm just thinking that £49 for that scope's pretty good isn't it?How are those firstscopes as instruments? Are they substandard or pretty good?Alternatively, i could just keep borrowing it......
Starflyer
I think it would be a very good idea to thoroughly check it over, say for the next two weeks, just to make sure it is okay I'd say it was a very good price, and it looks like a good 'scope to begin with Ian
