Jupiter, moons and shadows

Starry night pro software. It's the bees knees much better IMHO than Red shift. Take a look on ebay there are usually copies there for sale a bit cheaper than the shops.

Another vote from Starry Night from me too.

Starry Night's rendering and understanding of shadow is incredible. Lesser software can show when one of its Moons appears from behind the planet but SN will show when it actually moves out of Jupiter's shadow, so is visible. Very clever!

You could try Brendan Murphy's FREE software which gives clear graphics of the moons and the GRS at any time. It can also give info in tabular form as follows. The program can be run online or can be saved and run from your computer.

It's worth checking Lidl's out from time to time, they were selling the 'Starry Night complete space and astronomy pack' last year for an amazingly low price of around £3 or so (if my failing memory serves me correctly  ). Can anybody else confirm this?

Regards,

Jack.
