Log me in - a big thank you

I am not sure who it was that suggested the software "Logmein"? but it is great.

There are a few limitations in my laptop, it is old and has a screen resolution exceeded by most mobile phones now .

This issue has stopped me using numerous pieces of software. WCS and later versions of registax to name two. But now I am viewing SGL on my laptop, which is in the garden, and I am sitting in doors :).

I am able to run at more useful resolutions, and "check up" on the guiding and imaging side of things without going outdoors. It's great.

There is a slight delay (a fraction of a second), but this is due to the laptop being at it's furthest distance from the house and still being connected to the wireless network.

It also means that I can view my PC's from any internet connected PC (with a password of course).

Love it! Thanks again.

Karlo,

You connect via your internet connection, which is a shame as it means that you are using bandwidth all the time that it is running. It would be better if you could just connect over a wireless network (maybe you can).

But to answer your question, if you pc's are connected to the internet via wireless means then yes it's wireless.

cheers

They don't come more IT inept than me.

Install the software on one machine and during that process you set up an account.

Confirm the registration from the email.

That's one machine all ready - then go to the website on the second machine, log in and install the software.

Assuming that both machines are internet connected, you are ready to browse one from the other. It really is that simple.

Took me about 10 minutes.

If you want to control one machine from another try clicking start then run and typing mstsc then hit enter (on the machine you wish to do the controlling from).

This is the built in windows app for remote desktop connections. Plus it works over the network rather than the internet connection, so you will have a better connection.
