Anyone Use Atlas™ 10 EQ Equatorial Reflector Telescope for AP

Recommended Posts

Tom,

I do not know if there are any other issues then collimation, coma and focussing which are inherent to a fast Newtonians.

I cannot find any information about the imaging circle , other than the advice to use a corrector (field flattener):  an optional coma corrector is recommended to achieve flat-field imaging performance.
This tells something about the coma problem, doesn't it?
Baader MPCC (1x) is a nice coma corrector, bit critical for tuning.
TeleVue Paracorr (1.2 x)is more forgiving., but both need some experimenting with backfocal distances and additional pieces of equipment like a set of adjusting (or adjustable) spacers
Both ad quite a bit of investment...

If used for travel telescope, collimation may be neccessary everytime you take it with you...

Because of the low f ratio (short focal length) the light cone is quite steep,  so focussing is critical.

Maybe other members who own one can tell you more about it.

Like I said before: I am more in favor of a refractor for travelling image scope, but that is personal. Can't help it shining through in the above comments, though...
