ZWO ASI290 on a ed80 or c8 edge for dso

Recommended Posts

I think you could get away with using it on ed80, but I would seriously consider skipping its use on c8 for dso.

With ed80 you'll get around 1"/pixel (that is quite ok resolution), and with c8 edge, you will get about 0.3"/pixel - really bad idea because of seeing and guiding problems at that resolution.

ASI290 has really small pixels - 2.9um and I would consider its use for dso only on the smalles focal lengths (up to 600mm). For planetary with c8 edge and this camera, I would throw a x1.5 barlow in the mix and it would be just about right then (at F/15 for this pixel size).
