Numpty Question

..but I have to ask as the only silly question is the one you didn't ask.

I have a filter made from the Baader Solar film and was wondering what, if any, benefit I would get from slapping my CCD with a Ha filter on to the scope behind this?

I have a feeling it will be none, but have to ask for verification

Cheers

The Ha filter will not work. The vast majority of the light (99.999%) of the light is filtered by the solar filter so using the Ha filter has no effect, you need a dedicated telescope for that (no prominences etc) . You will be able too use your ccd camera to record sun spots and surface granulation.

Cheers Cornelius.

This was what I was thinking was the case, just wanted it verified.

Guess I will stick with white light for now........
