Local club / Society

Hi

I am a new member to SGL. 

Can anyone tell me if there is a local club in my area - Vale of Belvoir, Bingham, Grantham, Bottesford, Melton Mowbray?

I bought a Skywatcher 150PDS on an EQ5 Pro mount last September and am looking to find a group where I can learn more.

Easy option is this:

Reason it is easy is that you may be close to the border of the next county and so a club there might be more accessable, the presumption being that you have a better idea then I do.

Hi and welcome to SGL

I believe there's an astro soc in Melton but don't have their details. In the surrounding areas there's Derby and District astro soc, Nottingham Astro soc, and the one I'd recommend is East Midlands Stargazers who meet at dark sites in Wymeswold and also Belper (WW being right on your doorstep). There's also Leicester Astro Soc who meet at the National Space Center.

All are a welcoming and friendly societies, and they all have an online presence if you google them. Good luck!

(Many years ago in 1976 I used to run an ice cream van round Hose and all the places you mention lol. Rekindled some good old memories there)

I will look into both of those. 

The Wymeswold dark site sounds good as I am frustrated by a street light at both the front and the rear of my house!
