Per, whilst I've got your attention...

I have made big strides in modelling recently thanks to help on SGL. As a result I am now (rather inconsistently) able to get 30 minute frames, unguided (of course) on my GM1000.  I have re-modelled (100 Syncs) quite a few times to try to remove the inconsistency but to no avail.

Also, each time I start up the mount (in an Obsy and unmoved) the mount is pointing about half a frame off to one side. Easily re-aligned by doing a single Sync with the Refines Off but I am wondering if there is an obvious cause for it? This happens routinely.  If I Clear Align and reload the model the pointing is spot-on first time.  I usually get 22 Model Terms with an RMS of about 5"; PA 30"; FL 2000mm.

How would you go about investigating the initial pointing error and the tracking inconsistency?  I have stuck with the same target, NGC2903, in order to remove a variable.  Sometimes I get perfect 30 minute frames, which makes me think nothing can be flapping around, but next time I might not.  Does that suggest Hardware or model to you?

Many thanks

Gus
