Catalina - looking for advice!

Hello all, this is only my second comet, im not convinced i processed it appropriately - it's quite a struggle merging the comet only stack with the background and having it still look like a real thing

if it looks goofy please let me know!

i am excited about the conjuction with NGC5466 though!

Looks like you have some good data there, a few more details about how you have processed it might help members respond more. What were the subs used, stacking processing methods? eg. DSS?

I too have struggled with combining the two sets on Comets. It's best to have a good look on here and google for more advice. Although it makes the task a little easier with its special comet combine function, I find DSS a bit hit and miss.

If you use Photoshop you want to blend the comet onto the star field using layers and screen mode. Your looking good so far!

I stacked the stars, then stacked the comet in DSS, merged the two using layer masks in photoshop. The final revision was a bit more careful with the comet layer

Great job catching it with the globular cluster. Looking at other images I wonder if there might be a little more detail lurking in the tails.
