Cheating under a full moon

I had a go at the Rosette nebula tonight under a full moon. The image looked horrible. It was full of rings & gradients that would not correct. The RASA hates the moon & a HA filter does not help if the object you are trying to image is a few degrees away from the moon.

So- I said what can I do?

I cheated- I cut the middle of the frame out- which was not as badly affected & then stuck it on a layer above the darkened background which hides the gradients- I know the end result is a bit naff but hey it's Christmas so why waste a celestial present!

Merry Christmas to you all- I will try again when the moon is gone! & try harder to make the image not look like a Celestial Dog- I think it's called Bruno!
