Geminids by radio - fingers crossed!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Since the sky here in York looks like it might let us down for a visual of the Geminids I have a 2m aerial pointing at Dijon which from York is about 144 degrees and doing some back of fag packet calculations it seems the Geminid radiant should be at 144 degrees azimuth point around about 00:45 Monday morning so with a bit of luck I might pick up some reflections from the meteors when the aerial is pointing in the direction of the radiant.

Instructions are from an old copy of Astronomy now -

equipment -

2m aerial

connected to Funcube dongle plus

running Spectrumlab  with the FCD tuned to 143048 khz

This is a typical grab of a day to day plot nothing special happening at the moment   hopefully a bit busier later!
