First binoculars

Hi

Thinking of getting a new pair of binoculars for myself but can't decide on what to get.

I've narrowed the choice down to Opticron Adventurer 10x50, Olympus 8 x 40 DPSI or the Celestron 71009 15 x 70 Skymaster. Or is there something else about the same price that I should consider?

Had a read on there and think I am going for a pair of 10x50 to start with. Just can't decide between the Olympus 10x50 DPS-1 or the Opticron Adventurer 10x50.

Is there much between them? I'm guessing that they are both of similar quality.

I don't have any experience of either of them, but Opticron have a pretty good reputation across the board so my impulse would be to go for the Opticrons.

I ended up ordering the Opticron Adventurer 10x50 and Amazon have just informed me that they have been dispatched and will be with me next week.

Now hoping for some clear skies!

New binoculars arrived today while I was at work.

It's cloudy so not much of using them tonight unfortunately!

Thought I would try them on the birds feeding in the garden and they are nice and sharp............then I looked at them closely and found they were dented by the front right hand lens.

They now need packing up and sending back.

Just my luck!

This will sound like sales talk on behalf of the forum sponsor, FLO, (which it isn't) but you would be better getting a refund from Amazon, and ordering them from FLO. Its much better to buy from  a specialist supplier who know what they are about. The price is better (I think) and you will struggle to find better sales and after sales service anywhere.

Amazon can be great for some things. I'd have to agree that objects like binoculars are best bought from a reputable dealer such as FLO. The peace of mind you get from a first class service is worth its weight in gold.

Only purchased from Amazon as I had a £50 gift card. If I could have swapped it for cash I would have bought from FLO.

If or rather when I get my first scope I'm sure it will be from FLO.
