Pier Adapter

Having realised that the current mounting arrangement for my mount on pier is no where near suitable, have decided to go down the route of a disc brake on the top mounting plate.

Went for the good old Skoda Favorit one.

As there is currently a rather large hole in the middle of the top plate at present where the mount sticks through, am I right in thinking that so as to get the proper securing I will need to get me some welding done and stick a bar across the middle, as is shown in post #9 in this thread.

I just used a bar with a hole in the centre and wide enough to fit inside but no welding it works ok for me.
