Post Astro Mod white balance

Can anyone tell me if I need to white colour balance the astro modded 500D if it's only being used for astro and if I do will it still show more of the red in astro images or just subdue it?

I personally have never bothered with using CWB for Astro  with a modified camera...

As long as you shooting raws then you can let the stacking/post processing software sort it out for you... A CWB is applied to the data before they are save as jpegs or it can be used as one of the presets when processing (Developing)  raw files.

I have tried both and found it best to leave as AWB.
