Need a new mount, any advice?

Recommended Posts

I need a new mount for my ED80. I have been reading about the Celestron Advanced VX, and it seems to fit my needs. I have also been reading about the Celsetron Starsense, I can always use some help aligning my scope. Does this sound like a good setup for someone moving from “just interested” to wanting to get into astrophotography? I have already have the Qcam 5-II for guiding and as I understand, the AVX can use either puls or ST-4.

Any comments?

Hi Ken... I heard some great reviews about the AVX and after using my CGEM for a few years I can't recommend Celestron mounts high enough..

There are plenty of people using the AVX for astrophotography and after seeing the end results it seems like the AVX is as accurate as the CGEM, just made to handle lower payloads.

I say go for it, it'll handle the ED80 easily and I think you'll be happy with it.
