August 20, 2015: Lunchtime H-alpha sun: the eastern limb on fire!

Recommended Posts

Just went out for a lunchtime H-alpha session with the students. The eastern limb is full of fire at the moment. Down south there is a huge pair of tree proms, just north of it a complex, bright prom consisting of several elongated structure floating above the limb, and northernmost there is a very long but low arc. Well worth a look. The surface is mostly quiet, except for the large AR in the southeast, and smaller AR and lone filament on the western half of the disk. Hopefully I can get most stuff done early, so I might have a go at imaging
