300mm prime recommendation

I'm looking for a 300mm prime for my D5100 to frame DSOs. Old, manual focus stuff preferred . Budget around $100-$200. I might go a little further for something with clear advantages. Sharp and free from CA are , of course, the criteria. I'd prefer something with a Nikon mount. Looking at the Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 for starters. Any ideas appreciated.--Jack

Yes, I also have a post going on CN. I read this and found it long on opinion, incorrect on fact, and lacking useful hard data. I do thank you for the reference, however.--Jack
