  1. thx mate but it went ok thanks for the help much appreciated
  2. My computer has crashed so everything is being reinstalled on anoter computer, I have done my zwo cameras and eqmod, CDC all works fine, my problem is my qhy 5-11 been on their site to download the driver and met by a minefield ( tried the all in one package) nothing seems to work any ideas how to get the correct driver?
  3. My first real outing with the Askar 200/ asi533 osc. only managed 14x2min frames before it started snowing , heres to clear skies
  4. thanks for the quick reply, this is just a pale grey cloth (like a grey card for photography), I can understand if it was bright pink or orange , I will give it a go nothing ventured etcthanks for the reply
  5. Probably going to sound like the village idiot here but if you dont ask you wont find out. Has a T shirt flat got to be white?, there is a good reason Im asking, I use a lot of lens cleaning cloths roughly about 12x9 and a lens cleaning cloth is a lot smotther and denser than a T shirt, trouble is most of my cloths are light grey so just messing about I put one on my telesope and put my luminence panel on top and using the flat wizard my exposures turn out at just under 2 secs which I think is right in the ball park, only fly in the ointment is the cloth is grey not white. surely we just looking for a flat even illuminated image or should i get my coat lol??
  6. thank you so much for that, i think I will have another look at it pretty sure i can get to 29mm with the spacers i got
  7. thx for the reply, got a feeling i am out of luck, with it as adding spacers only made it worse
  8. I have a sigma 300mm f2.8 and I also have the zwo asi 533 osc camera, I was thinking buy the adaptor and try the camera on the sigma but when I attach it I can not achieve focus i can see the stars but they are way out of focus, is this fixable or doable, it was juust a thought as im hoping to get either the redcat51 or the askar 400 to compliment my ed80/asi1600 mono. I am in limbo ATM deciding what best to go with it keep swopping and changing my mind tbh any input would be helpfull
  9. im pretty sure i have but will do a recheck , im sure its something small i have overlooked
  10. Hi all, I have two setups on a permanent pier. An ASI 1600 mono paired with an ED80 scope, I also have a MAK 127 paired with an ASI 533 OSC. I have no problem plate solving with the widefield outfit but cant for the life of me plate solve with the mak , I keep getting "not enough stars" even though it has detected 37 stars I have been using ASTAP . any suggestions? I have nina sharpcap and sgpro installed, astap runs but dosnt solve, anyhelp much appreciated Paul
  11. My cars been off the road a month (dont ask) so I am limited now, got one or two things in mind hoping for clear skies sunday night fingers crossed
  12. I had a nice night Friday night, went on a tip behind my house (merthyr) spectacular view of the comet and some noc clouds
  13. Had a try at doing a bi colour last night, enjoyed it
  14. picked a random target while trying some new things out, pretty happy with it
  15. Hi guys I have an equinox ed80 and a zwo1600 mono and all the filters, also a field flattener, I have been told I can put a LP filter (think it was IPAS2) direct on my field flattener 2", so all the filters would be using it. The question is will I get much benefit out of it I am in moderate light pollution, my thinking process as well is to extend my exposure times from around 60 secs to 120 secs. Any advice guys just want to know if its worth getting. Cheers Paul
  16. taken the other night
  17. been so long since i done some imaging spent half the night trying to work out what everything did, Fed up with my computer and SGPRO (cant update sgpro ) i keep getting an error, and everytime it takes an image it freezes, absolutly does my head in. Anyway managed to get an image of UMA26 only 30x30secs subs of RGB but least I got the focussing sussed now i think
  18. Well there was a small chance last night so tried for the first time in ages to set up, I had gain at 200, exp for RGB was 15 secs. I tried to get an hours worth but when I ran it in blink i had to get rid of a load of bad subs. I am still having issues with SGPRO (keeps freezing if I take a single shot for framing) and also in sharpcap (I can do the sensor analysis but when I click on the brain in the histo to calculate correct exposure nothing seems to happen). right so set up didnt use a bat mask as wanted expecting to get anywhere slewed to a target (cant even remember which cluster it was and ran a sequence. stacked in pix and slight adjustment in LR, no darks or flats or bias. im happy with the result TBH so guess next stage now is to do a dark/flat library. reduced the temp also from -25 to -10
  19. thx mark, im hoping to get some clear skies soon and do a few at different gains etc and see how it goes. I went from unity gain down to 50 and think i went the wrong way if im honest, 200 sounds in the ball park but shorter exposures i think
  20. my images are a mixed bag really, you are right though it can drive you round the bend at times
  21. This is my problem where I went wrong coming from a DSLR and knowing lower ISO is less noise I sort of looked at gain like ISO ( so I was thinking gain @50 is going to be less noisy than gain@139) and thats what keeps creeping in. (not only that but if you take a sample shot gain 50 and another in gain 300 say then gain 50 does look a lot smoother less noisy). I get now what the video says about once reaching a point theres no need to push it further I just dont get the bit where he says "so all you have to do is work out the maths this times that divided by that equals this. I am in . I am in an orange zone using an equinox ed 80 and the 1600 mono cooled, so I think the ed 80 is roughly F6 thereabouts, Just roughly very roughly as a starting point I would imagine i should look at gain of 200 and expose for about 10 secs then? ( thats lum) then triple it for RGB)?
  22. thx guys , I did plan to run the smart histogram next clear sky (so that should be june 2022) I havnt watched that video I must admit
  23. still cant get my head around exposure settings/gain with my asi 1600, for some reason it just dont compute in my head whats the best for a deep sky image in bortle 5 skies, I have done youtube, tutorials etc but still end up scratching my head, sometimes my images are ok sometimes they are terrible. I tried the sensor analysis today but reading it means nothing to me, any pointers? heres a snapshot of the analysis
