Software Stacking uhm... software?

Very "out of the loop" re. latest developments in Video Astronomy software.

But the recent purchase of a ZWO planetary Cam, prompted me to extend

my horizons and actually LEARN (gasp, wheeze) how to use FireCapture! :p

My "All Sky Cam experiment" caused me to discover that FireCapture had the

facility to (software) "Stack" images in real time as one of the *pre-processing*

options. However, a modest number of frames gives a WHITE image! I assume

this due to the literal *addition* of frames? The promising option to "average"

frames doesn't appear to be implemented just yet... :o

But the general framework (pre-process frames / write those to AVI) is brilliant!

Best of all, I found that FireCapture can "see" a standard video capture dongle.

Naturally, there is no "camera control"... But that set me wondering:

Are there other programs that do / envisage "software stacking" as above --

Can any of these interface to a (working!) video capture USB dongle input?

I note my *in-the-post* Watec (910HX) uses the same chip as Lodestar X2. ;)

(Ex-programmer to active programmers: "No pressure"... Just wondering!)  :D
