Venus ghost image

I was looking at Venus last night and i saw a ghost image. But i read that it's possible for really bright objects to reflect back off the eye onto the lens. After i put a lunar filter on the ghost disappeared. Has anyone encountered this before?

I have seen this when using Meade eyepieces in the past but I now use TeleVue and last night saw no ghost with either the 5mm Nagler or the 3-6mm zoom. You can also see a ghost image on Sirius, I think it's the eyepieces to some extent.

I see it with my BST 8mm EP, not with other EPs. As Alan says, it is caused by reflection from the eye itself back into the optics.

With a neodymium filter in place on any short-focus EP, I sometimes see a faint secondary image caused by the filter.
