is there an edge to.our galaxy

Recommended Posts

There obviously is an edge ;) there are billions of other galaxies out there, we can image them and look at them and see where they begin and end, they all have a edge, even though the edge may be very faint and diffuse. M31 for example was recently found to have an extensive faint halo many times larger than its main disk!

Yes in a way, it will do as the atmosphere does and simply become less and less dense in stars.

At some time someone said the atmosphere ends at 100Km up and after that is space, there is still some air mocecules, but there are still the odd atom/molecule or two in space.

Which gravitationally bound star is furthest out is another option.

Since there are a definate absence of stars between galaxies then it seems that there is a limit of some sort.

It is a bit like 1/2n, the series gets smaller and smaller but never gets to 0.

If you summ 1/2n for ever you are infinitely adding a bit more to it but again you never quite make it to 2.

Is there an edge of the galaxy or is it infinite

Hull observatory, people are not mocking you, but your style of constant one line questions is challenging.

Perhaps you could research some of these topics yourself to get a basic knowledge. It would be good to hear your opinion on some of these questions
