Where are we?

I saw a map of our place in the milky way at the BAA deep sky event today..which was brilliant by the way.

I just love maps like this to give perspective..

That map is from Henbest and Couper "Guide to the Galaxy" which I highly recommend if you like that sort of stuff.

I find knowing where we are in relation to what I'm seeing up there fascinating too. It's quite an important part of my relationship with the universe
