My horizon all around is suddenly red!

For the last few days I have noticed that the horizon (especially to my east) is suddenly red up to an altitude of about 20-30 degrees.  What could be causing this?  I have always had a lot of light pollution here, but it's never like this.  This almost seems like the sun is setting to the east.  We have had a lot of fog lately, could it be light pollution reflecting in the moisture?

Anything in the air would make LP worse.

Yep, I reckon. I get the same effect to my South from a nearby shopping & leisure destination and the Olympic Park. Soon as the cloud lowers that fine murk, everything goes dayglo orange up to about 20-30°.

High humidity (and mist or fog but you won't necessarily need to be able to see the mist / fog in order for it to take effect) will do that. Amazing how orange my eastern horizon up to about 45 degrees altitude will go if there is high humidity.
