Good point Ant. Actually I haven't strictly found the answer but the person who asked me has told me he found it! This afternoon I'll have the chance to ask him. The question was,

Where do you find a display of the histogram of a new capture in Maxim? (Necessary for getting the right flats exposure.)

In Maxim I just look at the average ADU figure ...... Would this not be sufficient?

Peter tells me he found a tool in the lower right which he could scroll over the image to read the ADU. Since my job was to man the panel at this end and he was in Paris on his mobile I can't be any clear than this! The joys of robotics...
