canon eos 1100 or 1200

the canon 1100 seems to be a popular choice for imaging. I am just wondering why this is and why the 1200 doesn't seem to rank well? As I look at them both they are pretty much similar in spec.

IMHO, 1100D is popular because it is old, cheap, and 'can'. The 1200D has not found popularity due to advances and price decreases in the tripple digit ranges.

However if you have a 1200D then go for it.

The 1100D is 12 megapixel, whereas the 1200D is 18 and that is a bit to high pixel scale for a lot of set ups, it would be much too much for my 8" SCT at f10, as the more pixels there are the smaller they are, so for me I would get around .65 arc seconds per pixel, where the ideal is around 2 arc seconds of sky per pixel.

That is one reason anyway
