Just ordered nifty fifty again

Bought a 50mm 1.8 (fd) about a year ago for the northern lights in Norway. Didnt see any due to bad weather. Tried the lens with the eos adapter to reach infinity focus and it wasnt great. We have booked for finnish lapland in a couple of weeks so ordered the new (ef) lens this time. Hopefully some clear skies this time. Avoid the fd lenses for AP!!!

I have the nifty fifty (EF) its a very nice lens and gets plenty of use.

The FD's even with the FD-EF adaptor containing the optics struggle to focus at infinity..

Annoying thing is I payed the same price after realising I needed the eos adapter with the fd lens. I guess the older coatings of the lens and probably the cheap glass in the adapter are to blame for poor quality images.

Adaptor wise  The early Canon FD to EOS adaptor is supposedly amongst  the best but it's as rare as hens teeth with a price to match and also acts as a low power teleconvertor...
