WO Megrez72 is still being made

Recommended Posts

Browsing the Altair Astro webiste i came across the Lightwave 72mm refractor.

https://www.altairastro.com/product.php?productid=16823&cat=270&page=1

It bascially appears to be a Megrez72 tube and optics but with a better R&P focusser. They don't specifcally say this but they refer to a 'previous incarnation' of the scope and link to images taken by that 'previous incarnation' which happen to be taken by a Megrez72.

So for anyone wanting a brand new updated Megrez72 you can still buy them! :)

Most of those wave refractors on their site look the business. They looked even nicer in real life when I saw them at their stand at Kelling, and a guy at a pitch near us had one of the 115 triplets, which was extremely nice. Really desirable objects! Might have to find funds and space for one at some point in the future.

Would you need a flattener for imaging with one of the Wave/Megrez 72? Guessing so, but don't see one specifically for it.

Hi Matt,

Yes you do need a flattener, the WO Flattener 6 is recommended:

That combination worked well for me although my imaging efforts to date have been 'modest'!
