Yes - another Lovejoy

Recommended Posts

It does have a lovely colour doesn't it!

It's the main reason that I spent an hour of observing time changing the camera setup on the scope to accommodate a dSLR. I wanted that lovely green colour.

I assume that the tail was lost in the glow of the moon? Should bea great to have another go in a week or so :)

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Ant

Unfortunately I didn't see any sign of a tail on any of my images no matter how hard I pushed them - the moon was quite bright though.

Hoping to get another go tomorrow.

I've put together a little animation of Lovejoy - I estimate it moved approx. 2 to 3 arc minutes in 20 minutes between the first and last image.

I must admit that I wish I'd pulled my finger out and sorted a piggy back guiding method instead of OAG.

The amount the comet moved surprised me too. I did a 3 hour imaging run and the comet moved about half way across the chip!

Nice animation :)
