Hey All

Does anyone have a copy of the Skywatcher ED80 focal reducer/field flattener instructions? I've lost mine. Perhaps you could scan and attach here please.

Link to FF/FR here

There is not a lot of instructions to go with it besides setting the back focus to 55~56mm.

Never got any 'instructions' with mine , it just screws onto the back of the focuser and then the M48 adapter   ( http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/flo-m48-to-t2-adapter.html )  screws onto the back of the reducer .

If you want to use 2" filters with it you need the adapter from FLO to fit on the front that allows it to fit inside the focuser without removing the 2" EP fitting ... http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/flo-adapter-for-skywatcher-focal-reducers.html

I've screwed my reducer directly onto the ED80 focuser draw tube after removing/screwing off the original 2" clamp. Since the adapter came with a locking ring I wasn't sure if I needed to screw the reducer all the way down the draw tube thread or whether there is some adjustment required. i.e. don't screw the reducer all the way and then lock in place with locking thread.

Screwing the reducer to the end of the draw tube is the most rigid way of mounting the camera/reducer but there are two problems with this. One is that it will not allow for mounting of a 2" filter at the end of the reducer and two, the camera angle can not be adjusted. To solve this problem an adapter such as this from FLO is required.http://www.firstlightoptics.com/adaptors/flo-adapter-for-skywatcher-focal-reducers.html, hope that this helps.

How do you adjust the camera angle using the FLO adapter?

You can adjust the angle of the camera quite easily. The drawtube has a ring which is used to lock the rotational position of the 2" clamp. It sits between the clamp and the end of the thread on the drawtube. Simply rotate the camera to the desired position then rotate the ring counter clockwise until it is tight up against the reducer.

Apologies, I realise my instructions were not that clear. Screw the reducer on to the drawtude thread as far as possible. Loosen it off slightly and attach the camera. Rotate the assembly until the camera is at the correct angle. Finally rotate the ring counterclockwise until it is tight against the reducer.
