dpb
First time user and all questios and answers are so far over my head I feel so silly asking such a basis question. Why is it when I look through my finderscope the image is upside down.
D4N
The optics of the scope does that. You can get a RACI finder that will provide a corrected image or use a finder that does not magnify like a red dot finder or telrad. Or you can just get used to it being that way TSED70Q, iOptron Smart EQ pro, ASI-120MM, Finepix S5 pro.
WaveSoarer
Yoiu do eventually get used to it. It takes a little while though.
Stu
It can get quite confusing, particularly if your scope is a refractor then you have a finder which is upside down and a scope which shows left right reversed views! There are various options. The cheapest is to get used to it!!Next option is something like a red dot finder (RDF) which shows a red dot, circle or cross where your scope is pointing. They do not magnify and present the image the right way round so are quite intuitive to use.A Telrad is a similar principle, projecting a 4, 2 and 0.5 degree circle making it easy to star hop aswell. They are quite large though so potentially better suited to newts/dobsLastly, a RACI Finder. RACI stands for Right Angle, Correct Image so there is a small prism which turns the light path through 90 degrees making it more convenient to look into, whilst also presenting it the correct way up and not reversed so far less confusing.Hope that helps a bitStuSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RedSpot
My raci finder was one of my best investments ever. Makes navigating a whole lot easier since everything is oriented the same way as the chart. They are also much more comfortable to use. Not cheap though!
