Top 25 Stargazing Spots in the U.K.

Nearly all crime in our village occurred during the daytime over the last few years as noted in the local parish mag - mostly "key fishing" and car theft (the exception was our neighbour having his golf clubs nicked during dusk - left a window open while his security light made it easy for thieves cruising by in a car to spot!). I wonder how this day/night crime rates translates to other locations??

Half our village has no street lights and the other half have them off at midnight. Makes little difference really as the intense sky glow from Leeds/Bradford airport (2 miles away) sheds enough light to safely walk around at night :(

Interesting.  However, none that near to us in East Midlands.  I also not sure I believe the sanity of some of those places - there is no way you could be up Mam Tor at night, you're not allowed to camp up there for a start and if you did it would be dangerous and exposed if the weather closed in.

I'm surprised Stonehenge is on the list. You can't actually observe there as it's shut after hours! Plus the A303 goes right past - although not for much longer if the tunnel goes ahead.

I agree with the earlier comment about dark skies not meaning clear skies. I've spent countless nights at Sennybridge near Brecon under driving rain! Very dark driving rain I hasten to add!
