EQ6 Polar scope

Recommended Posts

A few random thoughts abut upgrading the EQ6 polar scope.

Can we assume that the polarr scope fits true in the mount?

Ignore the reticule in fact remove it.

Fit a Webcam to the end of the finder. in a way that ensures it is square

Platesolve the webcam output to get image scale for accuracy.

With a platesolved solution, can now tell you exactly on what pixel to place polaris at the given time?

You need some other form of reference surely, which the reticle offers, in order to get both the needed time on the "clock" but also the left-right / up-down position in relation to that....

I bet drift aligning would be more accurate.

But if guiding for10-15 mins, would just not bog standard polar scope alignment be sufficient anyway?
